Kaivalya Deshpande, MD, is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician with additional specialization in pain medicine. With a focus on functional restoration and quality of life improvement, Dr. Deshpande employs a holistic approach to patient care, integrating interventional techniques to address pain at its source.
He is particularly interested in musculoskeletal conditions, regenerative medicine, diagnostic ultrasound, and utilizing multimodal evidence-based treatment paradigms aimed to improve those disabled from chronic pain.
An associate physician in the Department of Anesthesiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Deshpande instructs pain medicine fellows, as well as medical students and residents in their pain rotations.
Dr. Deshpande completed his fellowship in pain medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is a Michigan native and completed residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
Dr. Deshpande is an active member of numerous medical organizations including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
Outside of work, Dr. Deshpande enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, Michigan football and playing tennis.
