About Kathryn Tringale, MD, MAS

Kathryn Tringale, MD, MAS, is a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating brain and spine cancers, leukemia, and lymphoma. Dr. Tringale uses targeted radiation treatment approaches such as proton therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and intra-operative radiation therapy to destroy or damage cancer cells. Dr. Tringale customizes her radiation therapy plans for each individual to maximize the benefits of treatment while minimizing side effects. To personalize care, she builds relationships with her patients to understand their goals and values.

As an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Tringale trains medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Tringale is a dedicated clinical translational researcher, conducting clinical trials and analyzing data to improve outcomes and minimize toxicity. She collaborates with top scientists and clinicians to provide high-quality care and develop innovative clinical trials. She is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications, which have appeared in leading academic journals.

Dr. Tringale completed her radiation oncology training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she was both chief resident and Lacher Lymphoma Fellow. She earned her medical degree from UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she also completed a master's degree in clinical research. She is a member of several professional organizations including the International Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Group (ILROG), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tringale enjoys visiting museums and dabbles in painting, having developed an appreciation for art during her time in New York. She also enjoys being active with friends and family, especially running on the beach with her husband, Will, and Golden Retriever, Oscar.
