About Kyra Stone, MS, CCC-SLP
Kyra Stone, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of adults with neurological disorders. She provides outpatient evaluations and treatments for adults with speech, language, cognitive-communicative and swallowing disorders.
Using evidence-based principles, Ms. Stone strives to create collaborative, person-centered, and functional treatment goals for her patients. She loves being part of a patient's rehabilitation team and helping to improve patients' abilities to speak, think, and eat/swallow in their daily lives.
Ms. Stone is a certified brain injury specialist (CBIS). She holds certification from the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP), a structured therapy program designed to improve patients' swallowing using exercise physiology principles, and has completed the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP). She is also certified in SPEAK OUT!®, which addresses the motor speech deficits associated with Parkinson's and related movement disorders. She has received an ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE).
Ms. Stone has prior experience working in acute inpatient, inpatient rehabilitation, and nursing care facilities, and has been involved with supervising graduate student clinicians and new clinical fellows.
Ms. Stone completed her clinical fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Rehabilitation Hospital. She received her master's degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ms. Stone attended Pomona College for undergraduate studies, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in neuroscience and double minors in Spanish and psychology.
She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
In her free time, Ms. Stone enjoys hiking, birdwatching, stand-up comedy and going to the beach.
