About Juanita Gomez, PhD
Juanita Gomez, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with Integrated Behavioral Health at UC San Diego Health, where she collaborates with primary care physicians to deliver integrated, whole-person care. Dr. Gomez specializes in working with patients with chronic pain, chronic medical conditions and trauma. She has extensive experience working in medical settings with adult patients managing various health conditions. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys providing services to patients from all walks of life.
Dr. Gomez guides her treatment practice using mindfulness-based cognitive therapy as well as trauma based, and Gestalt interventions. Her therapeutic approach includes providing others with effective coping tools to better manage mood, and improve relationships and health habits.
She enjoys working collaboratively with the health care team, including physicians, nurses and medical assistants, to ensure patients feel supported in all areas of their health.
Dr. Gomez received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital in spinal cord injury and her post-doctoral fellowship at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in HIV and primary care medicine.
