Catherine Yao, MD, FAAP

Catherine Yao, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician providing care through the Children's Primary Care Medical Group. She is a member of UC San Diego Health Physician Network.

UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.

As a pediatrician, Dr. Yao provides primary care for infants, children and young adults. She decided to become a pediatrician because she loves working with kids and families. She admires the spirit and resilience of children. It is a great privilege for Dr. Yao to be a part of their lives and help them grow into strong, healthy adults. For her, working in an office full of kids, along with those who are still kids at heart, makes every day fun.

Dr. Yao completed her residency at UC San Francisco School of Medicine and earned her medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).

In her free time, Dr. Yao enjoys hiking, cooking, baking and reading.
