About Michelle Daniel, MD, MHPE, FACEP
Michelle Daniel, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who addresses all types of urgent and emergent medical conditions. She approaches each patient and their unique narrative with empathy and compassion, and provides care she would want for her loved ones.
Dr. Daniel serves as vice dean for medical education at UC San Diego, providing leadership for the broad portfolio of medical education programs. She is also a professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, where she instructs medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Daniel is passionate about medical education and has research interests in theories of cognition, diagnostic and therapeutic decision making and systematic reviews.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Daniel practiced emergency medicine at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor and was an associate professor at University of Michigan Medical School where she also served as assistant dean for curriculum.
She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins University where she also earned her medical degree. Dr. Daniel also holds a master's degree in health professions education.
Dr. Daniels is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. She is a member of several professional societies including the Association of American Medical Colleges, the American Medical Association, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Association of Medical Education in Europe.
Outside of work, she enjoys diving, hiking, travel and photography.
