About Michelle Tang, MD

Michelle Tang, MD, is an obstetrician/gynecologist who provides preconception, prenatal, and postpartum care, as well as labor and delivery management. She also provides comprehensive gynecological care including family planning and contraception, abnormal Pap smears, sexual health and dysfunction, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, menopause and vulvar conditions. Dr. Tang offers medical and surgical treatment options and always strives for minimally invasive surgical methods when appropriate.

Dr. Tang believes in maintaining an open dialogue with patients and values shared decision-making and patient-centered care. While her recommendations are always rooted in evidenced-based guidelines, she always works with patients to ensure that recommendations are personalized with consideration of their medical history, prior treatment plans and current needs. Dr. Tang finds it particularly rewarding to provide care to women during some of their most vulnerable moments in life. She enjoys being able to care for patients both during and outside of their pregnancies.

As an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Tang is involved in the education and training of medical students and residents in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences. Her research interests include robotic surgery training, sterilization practices for Cesarean delivery and vaginal immune responses in pregnancy.

Dr. Tang completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, mischievous dog and her new nephew. She also enjoys exploring farmers' markets, traveling, reading and exercise, particularly indoor cycling, yoga sculpt and tennis. Dr. Tang speaks conversational Mandarin.
