Luis Alonso Cruz, Jr., MD

Luis Alonso Cruz Jr., MD, is a dedicated and compassionate board-certified family medicine doctor with a strong commitment to patient well-being. He provides the full breadth of primary care for patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Dr. Cruz's practice emphasizes preventive care and the promotion of healthy lifestyles to stop the development and progression of disease. He delivers comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex medical conditions, ensuring the best possible outcomes for their patients. He provides treatment for acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, anxiety and depression, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), thyroid disease, heart disease and musculoskeletal problems. He also performs procedures including pap smears, birth control placement/removal and joint injections.

Dr. Cruz focuses on a patient-centered approach to healthcare. He prioritizes open communication, active listening, and empathetic care, ensuring that each patient feels heard, understood, and involved in their treatment plan. He believes that patients who understand their illness and participate in their care have better outcomes. He has a passion for delivering personalized care and building strong patient-doctor relationships.

Dr. Cruz completed his family and community medicine residency training at UC San Francisco, Fresno, where he was chief resident. He earned his medical degree at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG)'s School of Medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Cruz is proficient in Spanish.

In his free time, he enjoys gardening, hiking, bike riding, photography, cooking and traveling with his family.
