About Niral Patel, MD
Niral Patel, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist who specializes in interventional pulmonology. He uses minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat lung cancer, airway diseases and pleural diseases including sarcoidosis, pleural effusions, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and airway tumors. He performs a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including airway laser debulking, airway electrocautery, airway stenosis/dilation, tracheostomy, robotic bronchoscopy, endobronchial valve therapy, endobronchial ultrasound bronchoscopy (EBUS), thoracic ultrasound and intraoperative computerized tomography.
Dr. Patel enjoys working with each individual patient to address their needs and find options to fulfill their treatment goals. He believes strongly in quality improvement and optimization of protocols to enhance patient experience.
Dr. Patel completed fellowship training in pulmonary medicine at Norwalk Hospital/Yale University, critical care medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, and interventional pulmonology at University of Colorado/National Jewish Health. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University and earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Patel is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and interventional pulmonology.
He is a member of several professional societies including American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine and World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. He is also a diplomate of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
In his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys learning and applying new technology, building computers, fencing, traveling and cooking. He speaks English and Gujarati fluently, conversational Hindi and basic Spanish.
