About Jamshid Akhavan, MD

Jamshid Akhavan, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who provides treatment for acute and chronic conditions in adults. He also has experience in caring for LGBTQ individuals.

He is focused on providing balanced care by being thorough while keeping the bigger picture in mind. He finds it rewarding to build relationships with patients over time, while helping with their health and well-being.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Akhavan practiced primary and urgent care at Optum in Mission Hills, Calif.

Dr. Akhavan completed his residency training at Glendale Adventist Medical Center in Glendale, Calif. and earned his medical degree from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is board certified in family medicine.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking and gardening. Dr. Akhavan speaks conversational Spanish and Farsi.
