About Kelly Ball, MS, RN, AGPCNP – BC, ACCNS-AG
Kelly Ball, MS, is a board-certified nurse practitioner with a specialization in the treatment of adult and gerontologic patients. She is part of the interventional pulmonology department, where there is an emphasis on performing minimally invasive procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of lung and pleural diseases. These include malignant and benign diseases of the lung, such as lung cancer, sarcoidosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis and other conditions. Kelly sees patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, providing care and performing procedures for diagnostic and therapeutic benefit. Her particular area of expertise is in pleural diseases and patients with severe COPD who may require endobronchial valve placement.
Kelly feels it is important to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care through the spectrum of life and life's events, whether it be initial diagnosis or symptom management near end of life. She appreciates fostering relationships with patients and their families built on trust and mutual respect.
Prior to joining the interventional pulmonology department, Kelly provided care as a nurse practitioner in the pulmonology division at Jacobs Medical Center's medical intensive care unit. She helped to cultivate a role that was the first of its kind within UC San Diego Health.
Kelly earned her master's degree in nursing with a dual emphasis as an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist from San Diego State University School of Nursing. She completed her bachelor's degree in nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
Kelly is originally from the greater Seattle area. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and seeking new adventures, particularly hiking and camping. She spends much of my time with her three children and husband.
