Richard Childers, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who treats patients of all ages, including those with life-threatening or critical conditions, at UC San Diego Health Emergency Departments in Hillcrest and La Jolla.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, he served in the U.S. Navy as an emergency physician, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dr. Childers completed his residency in emergency medicine at Navy Medical Center in San Diego. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Childers also earned a master's degree in clinical research at UC San Diego.
Dr. Childers is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and he is board certified in emergency medicine.
When not practicing medicine, he enjoys bicycling, backpacking and gardening.
