About D. Dean Liou, MD, MA
D. Dean Liou, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who treats patients with general neurological conditions, such as headaches and seizures, as well as movement disorders. He has specialized training in caring for patients with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders including tremor, dystonia, Huntington's disease and ataxia.
Dr. Liou also performs botulinum toxin injections for a variety of neurological conditions such as dystonia, spasticity, hypersalivation and migraines. He also works with patients that have deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders.
He uses a holistic approach to treating each individual patient. To diagnose and treat every patient correctly, it is important to listen to patients and their families and create trust between the patient and physician.
Dr. Liou completed a fellowship in movement disorders at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a neurology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He completed a master's degree and medical school at Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Liou is passionate about medication education and completed a leadership in medical education course at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS).
Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, hiking and spending time with his family, which includes his Bernedoodle.
