Jean-Philippe Miron, MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist who treats a range of conditions, with a focus on treatment-resistant depression. Utilizing a combination of medication management and advanced interventional techniques, Dr. Miron addresses a wide spectrum of mood disorders, anxiety disorders and complex psychiatric conditions. His commitment to personalized care ensures that each patient's treatment plan is tailored to their unique needs, enhancing the efficacy of the therapeutic interventions.
Dr. Miron leverages his clinician-researcher role at UC San Diego Health's Interventional Psychiatry Clinic to incorporate a variety of therapeutic tools into his practice. This includes expertise in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) and ketamine treatment.
A native of Quebec, Canada, Dr. Miron completed a clinical and research fellowship in interventional psychiatry at the University of Toronto. He completed his residency at the University of Montreal, where he also earned his medical degree. He also has a PhD from the University of Toronto. Before his current position at UC San Diego Health, he worked at the University Hospital Center of Montreal.
Dr. Miron is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) and a member of the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SOBP).
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Miron is passionate about outdoor activities, particularly hiking and camping.
In addition to English, Dr. Miron is fluent in French.
