About William D. Keen, MD, FACC

William D. Keen, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist whose clinical focus has been on the most critical aspects of modern patient care including early detection of clinical and pre-clinical heart disease combined with precision and personalized patient management. He has more than two decades of clinical, administrative, and academic experience and contributions to all areas of clinical cardiology.

Dr. Keen is a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine where he is active in teaching and research and serves as the medical director of the cardiac noninvasive laboratories.

He is also chief of cardiology at Human Longevity, which uses a state-of-the-art approach to true preventative, precision medicine - utilizing rich data from whole genome sequencing, whole-body MRI, cardiac MRI, echocardiography, arrhythmia screening, coronary CT, detailed metabolic analysis, and remote patient monitoring – to make the vision of true preventative cardiology and life extension a reality.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Keen was a member of the cardiology department at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego where he went on to become chief of echocardiography, chief of the adult congenital heart disease program, chief of the department of internal medicine, and finally assistant medical director over the departments of emergency medicine, hospital medicine, critical care, radiology, laboratory and pathology, and continuing care.

Dr. Keen completed fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He did his internal medicine residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Keen earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School where he graduated with honors, Alpha Omega Alpha. His undergraduate degree was in pharmacy from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Keen is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.
