About Esmeralda McClean, OD

Esmeralda McClean, OD, is the director of urgent care at the Shiley Eye Institute. Her clinical focus involves the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular disease. She helped establish and now oversees the Urgent Eye Care Clinic where she triages and cares for patients with emergent eye related issues such as flashes and floaters, sudden loss of vision, pain in and around the eye, sudden double vision, eye infections and injury. She also provides comprehensive eye exams.

Dr. McClean makes every effort to make her patients feel comfortable and has a passion for educating them about their eye care needs.

Dr. McClean earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at UC Berkeley and her bachelor's degree in human biology with a minor degree in public health at UC San Diego. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
