About Amanda Kagan, MD
Amanda Kagan, MD, is a board-certified hematologist who specializes in the treatment of blood disorders and blood cancers. Her clinical areas of expertise include myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and inherited and acquired bone marrow failure disorders.
Dr. Kagan's approach to care is patient-centered, and she prides herself on educating her patients and their families about oftentimes complex diagnoses and treatment paradigms. She also believes that clinical trials are critical in advancing the care of hematologic malignancies and encourages patients to participate whenever appropriate.
Her research focuses on the development of novel therapeutics for myelodysplastic syndromes and early-phase clinical trial design in this area. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed medical journals.
She completed fellowship training in both hematology and clinical pharmacology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where she also completed residency training in internal medicine. Dr. Kagan earned her medical degree at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine in Burlington, Vt. She is board certified in internal medicine and hematology, and is a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
In her free time, Dr. Kagan enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
