Jeffrey Steinberg, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in vascular diseases of the nervous system. He treats aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM), dural arteriovenous fistulas (dural AVF), stroke, moyamoya disease, intracranial hemorrhage, carotid disease, cavernous malformations, and trigeminal neuralgia. He also treats brain tumors such as meningiomas.
He completed specialized training in both open and endovascular neurosurgery, which allows him to offer patients comprehensive treatment options. This includes traditional open neurosurgical procedures such as aneurysm clipping as well as minimally invasive endovascular procedures such as aneurysm coiling. He also specializes in cerebral bypass procedures, which are complex surgeries that provide more blood flow to the brain for various diseases.
In addition, Dr. Steinberg is director of the neurosurgical resident skull base lab, where he has contributed to the development of a novel surgical technique for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.
He completed a fellowship in neuroendovascular surgery and his residency in neurosurgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine. As a resident, he received the Kaiser Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Steinberg spent additional time at Stanford Medical Center where he focused on open cerebrovascular neurosurgery and moyamoya disease, a rare condition in which the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain become narrowed.
Dr. Steinberg earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York.
He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents at national conferences. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Skull Base Society.
Dr. Steinberg believes in treating every patient as he would his own family member. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, along with running and traveling.
