
About John Frederick Bell, MD, MPH
John Bell, MD, MPH, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. Bell is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. He does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's hospital discharge, Dr. Bell communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Bell cared for patients at University of Virginia Health System. He was was also an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at University of Virginia School of Medicine. His interests include leveraging electronic medical records to improve the quality of patient care and teaching medical students and residents how to understand and improve the health system.
Dr. Bell completed a residency in internal medicine at University of Virginia School of Medicine, where he also received his medical degree and master's in public health. He is board certified in internal medicine.
