Allyson Kreshak, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and medical toxicologist. She treats and cares for patients in the emergency department and urgent care, including those with life-threatening or critical conditions. Her care may include evaluation, resuscitation, stabilization, and referring patients to appropriate medical departments. As a medical toxicologist, she also provides bedside assessment and management of both inpatients and outpatients with poisonings, overdoses, bites, stings, and other related problems.
As an associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Kreshak instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her work in emergency medicine and medical toxicology has been published in the Annals of Emergency Medicine, The Journal of Emergency Medicine and Academic Emergency Medicine, among others, and she is a frequent speaker on these subjects at regional and national conferences. She is also a reviewer for major publications in the fields of emergency medicine, toxicology, and pharmacology, including The Journal of Emergency Medicine and Journal of Medical Toxicology.
Before joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Kreshak worked as an attending physician at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Kreshak completed a fellowship in medical toxicology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College) in Philadelphia. Dr. Kreshak is board certified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology. She is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP) and the American College of Medical Toxicology (FACMT).
In her free time, Dr. Kreshak enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and raising her three children with her husband.
