About Julie Bykowski, MD

Julie Bykowski, MD, is a board-certified neuroradiologist whose practice focuses on interpreting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and radiographic images of the brain, head and neck, and spine. She is the consulting radiologist for Moores Cancer Center's head and neck tumor board, and for the Stroke Center team at UC San Diego Health.

In her role as an associate professor in the Department of Radiology, she has as received numerous awards for teaching. Her research interests focus on clinical trials, clinical decision support for imaging utilization, and translation of imaging protocols into clinical use. Dr. Bykowski has held leadership roles within the American College of Radiology and is a representative of the California Radiological Society.

She completed fellowship and residency training in radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and during medical school, was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health research scholar. Dr. Bykowski is board certified in diagnostic radiology and neuroradiology.
