About Michael Montazeri, MD

Michael Montazeri, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. Montazeri is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. He does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's discharge, Dr. Montazeri communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.

In addition to working as a hospitalist, Dr. Montazeri works on a per-diem basis at the Family Health Centers of San Diego outpatient clinics. He is interested in medical care for mentally ill patients and social justice and public policy matters in inpatient medicine.

As an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Montazeri instructs medical students and residents. He is participating in quality improvement projects in thromboembolic disease prevention and standards in anticoagulation for inpatients.

He completed his residency in internal medicine from the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo, College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. He is board certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Montazeri is an active member of Physicians for a National Health Program and Physicians for Human Rights.
