About Krishelle Leong Marc-Aurele, MD
Krishelle Leong Marc-Aurele, MD, is a board-certified neonatologist who provides specialized and emergency care for babies who are born prematurely, critically ill or with complex health conditions. In addition to caring for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Jacobs Medical Center, she also cares for seriously ill children of all ages in a palliative care clinic at Rady Children's Hospital.
As a professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Marc-Aurele instructs medical students, residents, and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her clinical and research interests include perinatal palliative care, bereavement and end of life care. Her work has appeared in Seminars in Perinatology, American Journal of Case Reports, Journal of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Journal of Palliative Medicine, among others.
Prior to her current position, she worked as a medical director at San Diego Hospice, a consultant on UC San Diego Health's palliative consultation service, and an attending neonatologist in the NICU at UC San Diego Medical Center.
Dr. Marc-Aurele completed a fellowship in neonatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a fellowship in hospice and palliative at San Diego Hospice's Institute for Palliative Medicine. She completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. She earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She is board certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine, general pediatrics, internal medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine.
Dr. Marc-Aurele is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Medical Association.
