About Steven Howe, MD
Steven Howe, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon who specializes in treating a wide range of cardiovascular diseases, including aortic valve disease, coronary artery disease, and other peripheral and major vascular conditions. Dr. Howe performs adult cardiothoracic surgery, including peripheral and major vascular surgery, thoracic and abdominal endovascular surgery and thoracic trauma surgery.
Dr. Howe previously served as an attending surgeon at Naval Medical Center San Diego and as a battalion surgeon with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, deployed to Guam and Spain. He was also a Carrier Group 7 surgeon deployed to the Persian Gulf on the carrier USS John C. Stennis.
He completed his cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at UC San Diego and his general surgery residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and his master's degree in anatomy and cell biology at Albany Medical College. He is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Howe is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Western Thoracic Surgical Association.
