About Tarek Hassanein, MD
Tarek Hassanein, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist who specializes in liver disease. He is focused on the management of viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, and care of patients before and after liver transplantation.
Dr. Hassanein earned his medical degree from Alexandria University in Egypt. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit. He completed a research and clinical fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology, and transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh. He is board certified in transplant hepatology, gastroenterology and internal medicine.
He is fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
