About Janna Ekholm, MSN, CNM
Janna Ekholm, MSN, is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) who provides family-centered maternity care, along with well-woman care, family planning and other services. She delivers babies in our holistic, in-hospital birth center or in the traditional labor and delivery environment, depending on the desires and needs of her patients.
Ms. Ekholm has extensive experience in caring for Spanish-speaking women and providing midwifery care in community-based health centers. She specializes in optimal fetal positioning and speaks frequently on this topic. Ms. Ekholm has also provided continuing education training to labor and delivery registered nurses, paramedic firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Ms. Ekholm provided maternity care to women and their families at North County Health Services. While there, she served as the lead clinician for the clinic and a surgical first assistant during cesarean births.
Ms. Ekholm earned her Master of Science degree in nursing from Yale University School of Nursing.
