About Brian A. Pedersen, MBBS

Brian A. Pedersen, MBBS, is a board-certified rheumatologist. He diagnoses and treats autoimmune conditions and musculoskeletal diseases that affect the joints, muscles, connective tissue and bones. This may include conditions such as back pain and muscle strains, and diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and lupus.

Dr. Pedersen's research focuses on epigenetics of autoimmune disease. He has coauthored over 20 peer-reviewed articles, and his work has appeared in medical journals for nutrition and diabetes, immunology and hematology.

He completed a fellowship in rheumatology and an internship in internal medicine at UC Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Pedersen earned his medical degree (MBBS) from University of Queensland School of Medicine in Brisbane, Australia. He is board-certified in internal medicine and rheumatology.

Prior to completing his medical training, Dr. Pedersen was in the research residency track. He has been research technician for The Scripps Research Institute and a laboratory technician for Invivoscribe.

Outside of work, Dr. Pedersen enjoys playing tennis. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
