About Brent Rose, MD

Brent Rose, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist who specializes in treating prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, brain metastases and primary brain tumors.

As a radiation oncologist, Dr. Rose uses carefully targeted, high doses of radiation energy to destroy or damage cancer cells. His expertise includes conformal radiation therapy (CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and high-dose rate (HDR) and low-dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy.

Dr. Rose is part a multidisciplinary prostate cancer clinic. Focused on delivering advanced cancer care through a coordinated team approach, this clinic enables men diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer - either early stage or metastatic - to see him, a medical oncologist and surgeon on the same day.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences, Dr. Rose instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

He has co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters and commentaries. His work has appeared in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics and Cancer, among others.

Dr. Rose completed a residency in radiation oncology at Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. He earned his medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is board certified in radiation oncology He is a member of several organizations, including the American Board of Radiology and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
