About Lauren Davis, MA, CCC-SLP
Lauren Davis, MA, is a certified speech-language pathologist, holding a certificate of clinical competency in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She has clinical expertise in assessing and treating patients with a variety of speech, language, and cognitive-communication disorders as well as treating and assessing swallow disorders and completion of modified barium swallow studies (MBSS). In addition, she provides assessment for alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) devices for those with alternative communication needs.
Ms. Davis has a particular interest in providing services for patients with neurological and progressive neurological disorders, including stroke, traumatic brain injury,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), movement disorders, dementia syndromes and primary progressive aphasia (PPA). At UC San Diego Health, she has served on multiple committees and groups including those with a focus on stroke and senior care, and has also facilitated cognitive communication support groups. Her therapeutic style highlights a person centered focus on creating collaborative and functional goals in an effort to increase overall quality of life for patients and families.
She has experience in the acute care inpatient setting providing care for medically complex patients, as well as in outpatient and multidisciplinary clinic service provision. She is certified in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment approach (LSVT) and in SPEAK OUT!®, which address the motor speech deficits associated with movement disorders. Ms. Davis is also a CDP® (Certified Dementia Practitioner) and Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional®.
Ms. Davis completed a clinical fellowship at UC San Diego Medical Center, Thornton Pavilion and Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. She obtained her initial bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of Oxford, England. She earned her master's degree in speech-language pathology from San Diego State University. She currently holds two ACE (Award for Continuing Education) from ASHA.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, participating in non-profit community work, travel, and being at the whim of her two standard poodles.
