About Andrew Denevan, MS, PA-C
Andrew Denevan, MS, is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) who works with the Foot and Ankle Division in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. His areas of expertise include evaluating and treating acute and chronic sports injuries, as well as orchestrating pre and postoperative care. Mr. Denevan is experienced in recommending appropriate custom orthotics and braces, and providing footwear recommendations. He also provides support to the Sports Medicine Program at UC San Diego Health, where he assists in the care of student athletes.
Mr. Denevan's decision to pursue a career in medicine started at a young age while taking part in multiple medical mission trips both locally and abroad in India and Mexico. As a part of his physician assistant training, he also focused on rural medicine, working with underserved populations to provide a broad range of medical services to those in need.
He earned his master's degree from the University of St. Francis in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he specialized in orthopedic surgery. Mr. Denevan is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. He is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the California Academy of Physician Assistants.
A college athlete, Mr. Denevan threw javelin for the track and field team at Whitworth University and worked as a certified ski instructor in northern Idaho. He is from the Pacific Northwest originally, but now calls North County San Diego home. Outside of work, he enjoys surfing, paddle boarding and saltwater fly fishing.
