Farshad Raissi, MD, MPH, is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist whose special clinical interest is in management of complex arrhythmias in heart failure, as well as device therapies for early and advanced heart disease. As an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr Raissi conducts research focused on novel approaches for mechanical circulatory support in heart failure and improving outcomes for cardiac electrophysiologic interventions. He also teaches residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Dr. Raissi completed fellowships in general cardiology, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Texas Heart Institute/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He did a residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and also completed a research fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Raissi earned his medical degree with honors from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. He also holds a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from UC Berkeley School of Public Health.
He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Raissi also is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners. He is a fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS).
