About Helen C. Wang, MD
Helen Wang, MD, is a pediatrician who provides primary care for infants, children and young adults up to age 21. Her expertise includes working with overweight children to help them and their families develop good lifestyle choices, including following a healthy diet and being physically active.
As an assistant professor of medicine, Dr. Wang instructs medical students and residents in pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her research focuses on obesity in children and she has co-authored a chapter on obesity and metabolic syndrome in the American Academy of Pediatrics Textbook of Pediatric Care. She also presented her findings analyzing the association between physical activity and obesity in the Chilean adolescents to the Pediatric Academic Society in 2016.
Dr. Wang completed a residency in pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she also earned her medical degree. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.
When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Wang enjoys surfing, Zumba fitness and running. She also likes to cook and bake. Dr. Wang speaks Mandarin fluently.
