Philip C. Bosch, MD, is a board-certified urologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS). IC/BPS is a chronic urinary bladder disease characterized by increased urinary frequency, urgency, and/or pelvic pain.
Dr. Bosch's experience also includes having practiced general urology and urologic oncology. He has always been interested in IC/BPS and has cared for these patients for more than thirty years. He first began his IC/BPS research when one of his patient's IC/BPS symptoms ceased while being treated for an autoimmune disease. His clinical research now focuses on understanding the causes of IC/BPS and developing better treatments for the condition.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Urology, Dr. Bosch instructs medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine in the early diagnosis and the latest treatments for IC/BPS. Dr. Bosch completed a general surgery residency at University of Michigan Medical School and a residency in urology at UC Irvine School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He is board-certified in urology.
