Ryan Reeves, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He performs coronary angioplasty, a nonsurgical procedure that improves blood flow to the heart using cardiac catheterization.
Dr. Reeves performs a multitude of advanced interventional procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, percutaneous mitral valve repair, left atrial appendage occlusion, pulmonary artery monitor implantation, and placement of percutaneous hemodynamic support devices.
As an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Reeves conducts clinical research. His current and recent research projects include increasing the diagnostic yield of coronary angiography and intra-coronary pressure measurement, therapies for advanced heart failure such as stem cell injection, safety and radiation exposure in the catheterization laboratory, and the use of new interventional devices to treat cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Reeves completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and coronary, peripheral, and structural interventions at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
Dr. Reeves has presented at many national and local conferences and published original research manuscripts, case reports, and review articles. He is a fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
