Find Primary CareAbout Arthi Balu, MD
Arthi Balu, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine doctor. She provides primary care for adults, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. Dr. Balu treats individuals from their late teens (age 18 and older) to older adults, and her clinical interests include (but are not limited to) women's health, disease prevention and screening, and chronic disease management. She also manages the care of people with multiple medical problems ranging from diabetes and hypertension, to thyroid disease, heart conditions, and many others.
As a primary care physician at an academic medical center, Dr. Balu supervises and teaches medical students and residents. She is passionate about medical education and has a special interest in medical ethics as they apply to clinical practice.
Dr. Balu completed her residency training and medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is board-certified in internal medicine and a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Balu enjoys singing, theater and travel. She stays active through snowboarding, hiking and snorkeling.
