About Edward Smitaman, MD

Edward Smitaman, MD, is a board-certified radiologist with expertise in musculoskeletal imaging. His practice focuses on the use of radiographs, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound to diagnose a variety of musculoskeletal-related conditions, caused by sports injuries, trauma or tumors.

He has received professional honors and recognition for his clinical excellence, teaching and service. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2014, Dr. Smitaman was an assistant professor of radiology at Yale School of Medicine.

He completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. and a residency in diagnostic radiology at Yale School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology.

Dr. Smitaman is a member of the American College of Radiology and the American Roentgen Ray Society.
