About Lindsey Schaefer, MS, CCC-SLP

Lindsey Schaefer, MS, CCC-SLP, is a certified speech-language pathologist who evaluates and treats patients with cognitive communication and swallowing disorders. She has a special interest in helping people with neurological disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), movement disorders, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.

Ms. Schaefer has facilitated several educational presentations among colleagues and within the community on topics such as cognitive communication and swallowing challenges following a stroke and swallowing difficulties following anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgeries. In addition, she served on an expert panel at the ALS Research conference in San Diego in 2016.

She has also worked as a clinical speech-language pathologist for Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, Calif. and as a school-based speech-language pathologist in Encinitas, Calif.

Ms. Schaefer completed a clinical fellowship at UC San Diego Medical Center and earned a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology from University of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif.

She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

She is trained in the SPEAK OUT!® and Live with Intent speech therapy programs, which specialize in strengthening and preserving speech and voice for people with Parkinson's disease and related disorders.

Ms. Schaefer also leads a program known as LOUD Crowd®, which includes groups for speech therapy and singing to help individuals maintain their vocal strength. She is also certified Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).

In her free time, Ms. Schaefer enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog Piper and participating in volunteer trips to assist at pediatric rehabilitation clinics in Mexico.
