About Tara Andreasen, MS, CGC
Tara Andreasen, MS, CGC, is a board-certified genetic counselor who provides risk assessment and genetic counseling for patients and their families. She helps people investigate their family health history, navigate the genetic testing process, and understand and adapt to the medical or psychological implications of genetic diseases. She primarily serves as a prenatal genetic counselor for Maternal-Fetal Care and Geneticsand also provides pre and post-test counseling for the Huntington's Disease Clinical Research Center at UC San Diego.
Ms. Andreasen is also an adjunct professor for the Augustana-Sanford Genetic Counseling Graduate Program at Augustana University's San Diego location, where she instructs graduate students in the areas of prenatal genetics and case management, supervises second year interns during clinical rotations, and mentors graduate students who are working on thesis projects. Her work has been published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Ms. Andreasen was a senior genetic counselor at Integrated Genetics/ San Diego Perinatal Center. She previously worked as a genetic counselor at the San Diego Regional Center and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Ms. Andreasen earned a Master of Science in human genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y. and interned as a genetic counselor at Hackensack University Medical Center in N.J. and UC San Diego Medical Center.
