Paul Kim, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in various cardiac conditions, including cardiac sarcoidosis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Kim also performs and interprets cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) and cardiovascular computed tomography (CCT) studies.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Kim instructs medical students, residents, and fellows at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. His research is focused on cardio-immunology, the study of immunologic processes in different cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Kim is involved in international, multicenter studies to improve patient care and provide patients access to cutting edge clinical trials. Dr. Kim's research is supported by the American Heart Association and National Institutes of Health and has appeared in Circulation Research, Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and Journal of American College of Cardiology: Heart Failure.
Dr. Kim completed fellowship training in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at UC San Diego Health. He also trained at Stanford University where he completed fellowships in general cardiology, advanced cardiac imaging, and internal medicine residency. Dr. Kim earned his medical degree from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
