F. Allen Richburg, MD

Allen Richburg, MD, is a board-certified physician providing primary care through the San Diego Sports Medicine & Family Health Center. He is a member of UC San Diego Health Physician Network.

UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.

As a primary care physician with an expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Richburg provides preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and injuries for people of all ages. His practice focus includes caring for the unique medical needs of cyclists and athletes engaged in martial arts. He also has significant experience in treating dermatological issues.

Dr. Richburg is the head team physician at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista and at the San Diego Cycling Velodrome, where he works closely with some of the most elite athletes in the world. He is also the director of Athletic Medicine for San Diego State University. Dr. Richburg currently serves as the medical director of the San Diego Sports Medicine Skin Wellness Department.

He earned his medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. He completed his residency at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, and his fellowship training at San Diego Sports Medicine & Family Health Center. He is board certified in family medicine with a subspecialty in sports medicine, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
