Monica Perlman, MD, is a board-certified physician providing primary care through Perlman Clinic, an independent practice with clinic offices throughout San Diego. She is a member of the UC San Diego Health Physician Network.
UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.
As a primary care physician, Dr. Perlman provides preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and injuries for people of all ages. She established the Perlman Clinic in 2005 with the goal of creating a primary care environment that ensured she and other medical providers working with her had the time necessary to spend with each patient, and to be advocates for their patients' well being.
Prior to founding Perlman Clinic, Dr. Perlman held leadership positions at Scripps Clinic in both primary care and in occupational medicine/employee health.
Active in clinical research, Dr. Perlman has conducted numerous studies on therapies for lung disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as efficacy of care management models.
Dr. Perlman earned her medical degree at University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at UC San Diego Medical Center and is board certified in preventive medicine and public health. She also earned a master's degree in public health with an emphasis on occupational medicine from San Diego State University.
Dr. Perlman was born in Mexico City, Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of 16. She is fluent in Spanish and provides care for numerous patients who come from Mexico to visit her.
