About June Yoshii-Contreras, MD
June Yoshii-Contreras, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating people with epilepsy. She takes a holistic approach in helping patients deal with the challenges that are common in the epilepsy population in order to improve their overall quality of life. Her clinical interests involve treating complex epilepsy patients with medications, surgery and implanted neuro-stimulation devices.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosciences, Dr. Yoshii-Contreras instructs medical students, residents, and fellows. Her research focuses on brain-computer interfaces, utilizing novel techniques to improve seizure localization in order to provide surgical treatment options to patients that previously had been deemed non-surgical.
She completed a fellowship in epilepsy at UC San Francisco and a residency in neurology at University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She earned her medical degree at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine,, where she received the Robert J. Joynt Achievement Award in clinical neurology.
Dr. Yoshii-Contreras is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and the American Academy of Neurology.
When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Yoshii-Contreras enjoys salsa dancing, yoga, and traveling. She speaks fluent Spanish.
