About Marcus A. Urey, MD
Marcus A. Urey, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory devices and heart transplantation. In addition to his expertise in caring for those with end stage heart failure, he has a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of adults with heart failure caused by congenital heart disease (heart defects that are present at birth) and those with amyloidosis, a rare condition that can involve the heart.
He works closely with colleagues from different subspecialties to offer these patients the most up-to-date treatment with the intent of improving both their longevity and quality of life.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Urey trains medical students, interns and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Urey completed fellowships in both advanced heart failure and heart transplantation at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he was also a resident in internal medicine. He earned his medical degree from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.
In addition to English, Dr. Urey is fluent in Spanish.
