About Olivia Kim McManus, MD
Olivia Kim McManus, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in treating infants, children, and adolescents with neurological disorders, especially epilepsy and medically refractory epilepsy (when the condition does not respond to medication). Her expertise includes clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy surgery, i.e. invasive intracranial electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring and intraoperative electrocorticography.
As a child neurologist, Dr. Kim McManus is also experienced in malformation, intellectual disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental problems of childhood. She primarily cares for patients at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego and monitors newborns with seizures in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jacobs Medical Center.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosciences, Dr. Kim McManus trains medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her research interests focus on intracranial EEG monitoring.
Dr. Kim McManus completed fellowships in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at UC Irvine School of Medicine, and did residencies in pediatrics and neurology at University of Southern California Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She earned her medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Kim McManus is board certified in neurology with special qualification in child neurology. She also holds additional subspecialty board certifications in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.
She is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and American Academy of Neurology. In addition to English, Dr. Kim McManus speaks Korean and Spanish.
In her spare time, Dr. Kim McManus enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter.
