About Amber Rukaj, MA, LMFT
Amber Rukaj, MA, is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who provides therapy to women, infants, and their families during the prenatal and postpartum period. She specializes in treating perinatal mood disorders and working with individuals as they transition into parenthood. She also provides therapy for reproductive trauma, pregnancy loss and infertility.
Ms. Rukaj's experience includes working with children (from birth to age 18), couples, adults and families for conditions such as depression, special health care needs or chronic illness, marital problems, disruptive behavior disorders, teen parenting, grief and loss.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Ms. Rukaj worked at and managed several mental health programs specializing in the treatment of children.
She earned her master's degree in marital and family therapy from University of San Diego. She is also trained as a postpartum doula and in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma treatment.
Ms. Rukaj is an advisory board member of the Postpartum Health Alliance and a member of Postpartum Support International and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She has presented at numerous conferences on topics such as postpartum mood disorders and integrative mental health.
