Find Primary CareAbout Lindsey Yourman, MD
Lindsey Yourman, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine doctor and geriatrician who specializes in caring for older adults. She provides person-centered primary care focused on maintaining independence and quality of life.
In addition to management of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and arthritis, Dr. Yourman's expertise includes management of conditions including hearing, vision, memory and cognitive impairment. She also addresses health concerns such as urinary incontinence, osteoporosis and falls. She enjoys providing caregiver education and supporting patients and caregivers with advance care planning.
As an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Yourman is active in the education of medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. As the medical director of Geriatrics Quality Improvement for UC San Diego Health, she leads UCSD's Age-Friendly Health Systems Initiative which seeks to transform care for older adults to center around what matters most to each older adult and their loved ones.
Dr. Yourman has co-authored peer-reviewed articles in medical publications including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. As an invited speaker, she also lectures regionally and nationally on the topic of prognosis (i.e. predicting the likely or expected development of a disease).
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Yourman served as a primary care physician at the Program of All-Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE), where she led a team to help chronically ill and disabled older adults continue to live at home in their communities.
Dr. Yourman completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in internal medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. She earned her medical degree from UC San Francisco School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Yourman enjoys playing the piano, long-distance running and her family, including her dog named Csaba. She also speaks Spanish.
