About Belal Al Khiami, MBBS
Belal Al Khiami, MBBS, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist. Interventional cardiology involves opening blocked blood vessels with minimally invasive catheter procedures. Dr. Al Khiami treats people with acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, peripheral vascular disease, and other heart conditions.
He has extensive experience with percutaneous (nonsurgical) coronary interventions or angioplasty, a treatment that improves blood flow to the heart; minimally invasive procedures to open blocked or narrowed non-cardiac arteries throughout the body; ventricular support devices; and procedures to treat structural heart conditions.
Dr. Al Khiami completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at University of Iowa College of Medicine, where he also did a residency in internal medicine. He earned his medical degree from University of Jordan Faculty of Medicine in Amman. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. Dr. Al Khiami is also certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography (National Board of Echocardiography) and in nuclear cardiology (Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology)
