About Hannah C. Sweet, MD
Hannah Sweet, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in treating children and adolescents with all types of mental illness and psychiatric conditions. Her practice is part of UC San Diego Health's comprehensive and compassionate mental health services for teens.
Dr. Sweet has extensive professional experience with both inpatient and clinic-based (outpatient) care to adults, adolescents and children with mental and behavioral health issues. She is trained in psychotherapy and evidenced-based intervention strategies for children with autistic spectrum disorder and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy for children and adolescents. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2018, she was in private practice in San Diego.
Dr. Sweet is dedicated to helping people in need and has been a volunteer medical provider for orphans, the homeless and the indigent, both in San Diego and abroad. She was also a volunteer teacher at the UC San Diego student-run free clinic, supervising medical students on the diagnosis and treatment of homeless psychiatric patients.
She completed residency training in psychiatry and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Sweet earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
She is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Medical Association, among others.
Outside of her medical-related interests, Dr. Sweet enjoys training her two Labradors, spending time with her family, and traveling.
