About Vera Vavinskaya ,MD
Vera Vavinskaya, MD, is a board-certified pathologist who studies cells and tissues from biopsies or surgical specimens to investigate diseases and define their extent. She specializes in diagnosing diseases related to the gastrointestinal system and liver. She also has expertise in studying diseases on the cellular level (cytopathology).
Dr. Vavinskaya is an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology, where her research focuses on tumor cell expression in liver cancer and liver cancer histology. Her work has been published in journals such as Case Reports in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Radiology.
Dr. Vavinskaya completed a gastrointestinal pathology fellowship at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a cytopathology fellowship at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, where she was a resident in anatomic and clinical pathology. She earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.
