About Lisa M. Coles, MD

Lisa Coles, MD, is a board-certified family medicine doctor dedicated to practicing the full breadth of primary care and caring for patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. She provides preventive care, diagnosis of acute and chronic disease and in-office based procedures such as skin biopsies, joint injections, and contraception.

Dr. Coles is LGBTQ-friendly and values providing care for patients from all backgrounds.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Coles cared for patients at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, the Veteran's Health Administration's Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Clinic, and St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. She has also taught family medicine residents at programs in Texas and Arizona.

Dr. Coles completed her residency training in family medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She received her medical degree from the UC Davis School of Medicine. She is board certified in family medicine.

She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

When not at work, Dr. Coles enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two sons.
